A Stanford Conference on the Absence of Data and the Future of AI in Healthcare

The promise of AI in transforming healthcare relies on accurate and representational data. However, vast populations are underrepresented or missing from current data sets, which in turn only account for a small fraction of patient-centered outcomes, creating inequity in care at the individual and community levels. The Missingness in Action conference explored healthcare data needs, how to address them, and how emergency medicine can help ensure equity and optimal care for patients and providers alike.

As this is a Stanford University hosted event, we would like to share with you the University’s land acknowledgement. We recognize that Stanford sits on the ancestral land of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. This land was and continues to be of great importance to the Ohlone people. Consistent with our values of community and inclusion, we have a responsibility to acknowledge, honor and make visible the university’s relationship to Native peoples.
